Brightest 3D Viewing

People have come to believe and perhaps even accept that the typical 3D image is dark. But with new Light Boost Technology, a whole new brighter image can be enjoyed!

See, what happens in conventional 3D TVs, the image is shown to one eye at a time so the other sees a black frame. This rotates with the other eye and creates the effect of 3D. However, due to that black frame, the image becomes darker.

But! With passive Cinema 3D TV, you watch the image with both eyes at the same time. Not just that but with Light Boost Technology, the image is twice as bright! What happens is this: a thin film covers the television’s screen to counteract the inherent dimness and create clearer images!

Cinema 3D’s technology has been called “groundbreaking” and really, makes the 3D journey all the more enjoyable, don’t you think?

Top 10 Most Useful Apps

Today we are flooded with millions of apps because anyone who wishes can develop apps. With smartphones and now tablet PCs as a part of our everyday lives, apps have come to play a big role in how we obtain information, get entertainment, or simply just past time. I just found out about “Top 10 Apps That Will Change Your Life” that the Wall Street Journal Europe presented.
1.       1. Shazam: Have you ever heard a song that you love in a store but had hard time remembering the title? You can just “Shazam” the song now. With this application, you can just hold up your phone to the music and get the song title and the artist.
2.       2.  The Good Food Guide 2011: This is a British that lets the users read and write reviews on restaurants. It also uses Wifi to locate nearby restaurants.
3.       3.  OmniFocus: OmniFocus uses the GPS and Wifi to remind the user of the things on the “to-do” list according to the user’s location. For example, if ‘buying fruits’ is on your ‘to-do’ list, this application will remind you when you’re near a supermarket.
4.       4.  Drinks Tracker: this application keeps track of the user’s “ongoing alcohol intake.” This is very useful for those who are trying to cut back on their alcohol consumption or for those who are trying to control themselves when partying.
5.       5.  Data Vault Password Manager: this application lets the users save passwords, PINs, credit card details, and other personal information. All these infos are protected with strong security and you won’t have to worry about remembering all the different passwords for all the different apps and services.
6.       6.  Find My Car!: this application allows the user to easily find their parked car in a huge parking lot. Now you don’t have to wander around trying to look for your car. You can also record the visual information using the phone’s camera to follow the map even more easily.
7.       7.  Layar Reality Browser: this application uses augmented reality technology (which I will write about in more details some time later). You can hold up the iPhone’s camera to take a picture of your surroundings and this application will flood you with useful information. You can find good restaurants, bars, shopping spots, etc. using just this one application.
8.       8.  IMDb: IMDb stands for Internet Movie Database and it has all the information about both classic and recent movies.
9.       9.  Spotify: this application provides online music streaming on your smartphone. What makes this even better is that you can play back tunes when offline. Even when you lose wi-fi, you can still listen to your favorite music as if you’re streaming it online.
10.   10.  Word Lens: this application uses the phone’s camera to take a picture of printed words and translate it into another language. So if you’re travelling around the world and see a sign that you do not understand, you can simply use this application to translate it.

Tablet Time

Many have felt skeptical towards tablet PC when iPad first came out; but you can easily spot people using tablet PCs now. With growing demand for tablet PCs, companies are racing to bring competitive tablet products into the market. Toshiba Thrive uses Android operating system while displaying some laptop-like features for users who’ve been waiting for an easier, more standard way of utilizing tablet PCs.

Whether it would be able to catch up with Apple’s iPad in the market is still unknown. Although its laptop-like features allow easier access of data, such features allow less tablet-optimized apps for Toshiba Thrive.  The lower price of entry-level Thrive, which is $430, is appealing for those who found iPad2, which is $499, too expensive. They, however, need to look closer because it has only half of the memory of an entry-level iPad 2—8 gigabytes as opposed to iPad’s 16 gigabytes. Thrive with 16 gigabytes is not even $20 cheaper than iPad2. In terms of design, Toshiba Thrive is thicker and heavier than Apple’s iPad 2 or Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. For a complete review of Toshiba Thrive, read Tablet Strives to Plug Into Laptop’s Port Abilities (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303406104576444052144872400.html?mod=WSJ_PersonalTechnology_LEFTTop).

Soundsitive

After many inventions that rely only on body gestures to interact, connect, disconnect etc., there is now a concept for a speaker to be controlled only by hand gestures.

You can increase or decrease the volume just by waving your hand up or down over the speaker. The speaker also moves up and down to indicate the current volume level so you know if you are already at the maximum volume level.

This new concept, named Soundsitive, was designed by JC Karich and was presented at design LAB Show held in Paris last month. The Soundsitive is also capable of skipping or replaying a song with the right gesture. Hopefully in the near future, we might see stereos with this technology.

3D TVs – A New Generation

Times are changing and 3D television has become more and more a part of our lives. Once amazed by blue-and-red cellophane glasses, we are now offered a variety of different types of 3D, even in the comfort of our own homes. Now we can enjoy what was restricted to the big silver screen in our living rooms, with our family and friends. But of course, there are still the couple hesitant viewers, who wish to stick to the old.

As a matter of fact, I once counted myself as one of them. Statements such as, “It has poor quality,” “It won’t reach my high expectations of real-life 3D,” “It gives me headaches” and “The glasses are uncomfortable,” stand in between a fascinating 3D experience.

But current technology is not to be underestimated! Each of the statements has been addressed, after all. Modern 3D TVs boast of superior HD quality that leaves room for no complaints. The 3D is realistic, offering a satisfactory distance between the characters and the background, giving the impression of reality. Headaches can be avoided by choosing a passive 3D TVs. And light, battery free glasses are available from companies such as LG.

Don’t fall back and make sure to enjoy the 3D experience! If you’re worried about which 3D TV to buy or which ones are better-suited to your tastes, why not take a look at these articles? The first will help you catch up to current interesting “3D glasses war” and the second gives a review of three different types of 3D TVs and chooses its pick.
